The secretary did comment that he had a wonderful time trying to see as much speedway as he could in a month time frame in both the UK and in Poland. As expected the quality of the meetings varied greatly with the undoubted highlight being a Polish league match (Rybnik vs Torun) which was exceptional in front of a huge crowd of what must have been over 10,000. It should be only everyone’s list to do at least once in a lifetime.

Moved by P Plater, seconded by H Stacey that the secretary’s report be accepted

12     – Race Reports

a)       James Davies rode at North Brisbane. He won his first heat on what was not a perfect track but it was described as quite rideable. One of the local Queensland riders fell and was injured in his first ride and that caused some discussion about the state of the track. The meeting was subsequently called off after one round of heats which was disappointing for the riders who had travelled from interstate and were keen to keep going.

13.4 Practice Day – 23rd September

A reminder that our first official practice for 2017/8 is being held on September 23rd

13.5 Website / Facebook

A very lively discussion was initiated by Chris Sweetman around the better promotion of the club via our Facebook account and our website. The major concern was that they were both lacking information and in the case of the website not updated frequently enough and contains links that are no longer applicable. There was discussion around the benefits of those who have facebook pages sharing facebook posts made to our facebook page so that all their contacts would see any fresh posts. There was also discussion regarding the type of facebook account we should have, currently we have a community group page but it was suggested we should move to a public group page. (Secretary’s note – for reference, Mildura has a public group page (anyone can see the group, its members, and its posts), Gillman has a closed group (anyone can see the group and see who is in it, only members can see posts))

13.5 Container for club use

Our search for a reasonably priced container continues. Previous enquiries have located some used containers which we consider a bit higher than we think we should reasonably expect to pay.

The great raffle was won by Howard Williams and donated back to the club
